Installing Newer Versions of Reflection X Advantage If You Have Edited Rxmgr.alp
Technical Note 2530
Last Reviewed 25-Apr-2011

Reflection X Advantage
Summary

This technical note describes how to install a newer version of Reflection X Advantage on a Windows system after you have edited rxmgr.alp (or other *.alp file). The requirements described here apply to installing any newer release or hotfix.

If you install a newer version of Reflection X Advantage over a modified rxmgr.alp file, the Windows installer will not replace your modified file with the newer file that is part of the new version. If the newer version of Reflection X Advantage requires an updated rxmgr.alp file and an older version is still present in the Program Files folder, Reflection X Advantage may fail to start, or you may see an “Unexpected error” message.

This note describes how to prevent this and how to repair your installation if you have already installed over a modified rxmgr.alp.

Follow these steps to prevent errors when you install a newer version of Reflection X Advantage.

  1. Locate the edited rxmgr.alp file in the Reflection X Advantage installation folder.
