Summary

This technical note outlines the major features available in the FileXpress Platform Server 6.5 release, as well as product release notes.

The information in this technical note is organized into the following topics:

Product Highlights

  • Multiplatform Support

FileXpress Platform Server enables the transfer of files across all major platforms, including IBM z/OS, Windows, UNIX (AIX, HP-UX, and Solaris), and Linux.

For a list of supported platforms, see Technical Note 2475.

  • No File-Size Limits

FileXpress Platform Server is equipped to handle files of any size. Built-in RocketStream technology, which maximizes the speed and performance of large files over long distances, transfers files up to 30 times faster than traditional FTP.

  • Reliable Delivery

With capabilities such as automated retries, packet-level data integrity checks, exception alerts, and file transfer queuing, FileXpress Platform Server detects problems, notifies senders, and recovers transfers when transmissions fail.

  • Lights-Out Automation

FileXpress Platform Server can be used to completely automate the process of sending and receiving files. Powerful scheduling and event-driven options provide lights-out automation for all processes—anytime, anywhere. These capabilities, along with its peer-to-peer architecture and post-processing actions enable true end-to-end processing.

  • Security at Every Stage

Each server on which FileXpress Platform Server is installed becomes a virtual security checkpoint. No one enters or leaves without the server knowing about it and approving the transmission. A full range of encryption and authentication options strengthen data security at every stage in the transfer process.
