This technical note describes the features available in Reflection for NonStop 2008 Add-On. Also included are a link to installation instructions, and descriptions of known issues.

Reflection for NonStop 2008 Add-On Features
Reflection for NonStop 2008 Add-On is the upgrade to the EXTRA! 6530 Client Option and is an add-on for the Reflection 2008 family of products, providing connectivity to HP NonStop (Tandem 6530) hosts and giving enterprises the broadest range of host connectivity options and a consistent user experience. It includes the following features:
- Conforms to Windows Vista and Windows 7 certification specifications
Certification guarantees that Reflection meets the strict security, reliability, performance and compatibility standards Microsoft has developed for the new operating system.
- Digitally signed executable and DLL files reduce the possibility of security breaches.
- Adhering to anti-malware policies set forth by Anti-Spyware Coalition minimizes possibility of malware infections.
- Integration with Windows Error Reporting leads to quicker identification and resolution of product issues.
- User Account Control (UAC) support improves desktop security and increases administrative control over tasks and features that users can access within Reflection 2008.
- Vista SP2 and Office 2007 SP2 support
Support for the latest Microsoft platform updates ensures that Reflection will work as the desktop gets updated.
- Support for virtualization platforms
Support for key virtualization platforms ensures that Reflection will continue to support your environment as network infrastructures evolve.
- SSL/TLS, SSH encryption
The addition of SSH encryption gives enterprises multiple options for securing data between client machines and mission-critical host applications.
- Built on .NET Framework
Reflection is built on the Microsoft .NET Framework, a robust and secure development platform built into next-generation Windows. Being a native .NET application makes Reflection 2008 the most programmatically flexible and extensible terminal emulation application on the market.
- Support for VB Script macros
Support for recording macros enables organizations to quickly automate business processes.
- Added options for startup and connection macros
Users can configure the product to initiate actions when the workspace is loaded, increasing productivity by automating certain business processes.
- Consistent user experience with Reflection 2008
Provides support for 6530 applications using your choice of traditional or next-generation user experiences: Classic view provides the familiar EXTRA! X-treme and 6530 user experience. Ribbon mode provides a user experience consistent with the next-generation rich applications, like Office 2007.
- Integration with Microsoft Office
Integration with applications like Outlook and Word improves user efficiency and provides a useful tool for creating host application training materials.
- Attachmate implementation of the Office 2007 Ribbon User Interface
The Ribbon enables users to find relevant features quickly. In addition, custom Ribbons can be created to conform to the workflow of specific lines of business.
- Tabbed Multiple Document Interface (MDI)
Tabs for organizing sessions make it easier for users who use multiple host applications to switch between them.
- HTML Help
HTML-based help provides help content in a format that gives enterprises more options. Click the 6530 Help option in the Ribbon.
Installation Instructions
Reflection for NonStop 2008 Add-On requires that your Reflection 2008 installation have the appropriate update applied. See Technical Note 2444, "Installing Reflection for NonStop 2008 Add-On to Reflection 2008," for details.
Note: These steps do not apply in Reflection for NonStop 2011. See the Installation Instructions in Technical Note 2512.
Known Issues
Converting EXTRA! 6530 Client Option User Settings
Reflection for NonStop 2008 Add-On does not support the conversion of user settings, like session files and macros, created with EXTRA! 6530 Client Option.
Manual Administrative Installation
The Reflection for NonStop 2008 Add-On installer does not currently support an automated administrative installation. To perform an administrative installation, enter the following command on the command line:
setup.exe /install /admin TARGETDIR=[admin install location]Privacy Filters Not Supported
At this time, privacy filters are not supported in 6530 sessions.
Localized Product Issues
If you're running Reflection 2008 in a language other than English, you may see some non-localized 6530 user interface options.
Obtaining the Product
Maintained customers are eligible to download the latest product releases from the Attachmate Download Library web site: https://download.attachmate.com/Upgrades/.
