Summary

Reflection FTP Client file transfers can be controlled from other applications by using the OLE Automation (COM) API. This technical note explains how to obtain the COM programming reference documentation.

Obtaining and Using the COM Documentation

Reflection FTP Client version 15.x (included with products listed in the Applies To section above) does not install the Automation (COM) API documentation. However, you can obtain and use the 14.x documentation because it includes language references (methods and properties) that apply to 15.x. The 14.x COM documentation that installs with 14.x, is also available for download. This COM documentation is in WinHelp format (English language only).

Follow the steps below to obtain the COM documentation. Please read all instructions before downloading the file.

  1. If you are on Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows Server 2008 you must download and install the Windows Help program (WinHlp32.exe). It is also recommended that you enable WinHelp macros. For more information, see Technical Note 2294. (Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 already include WinHlp32.exe with WinHelp macros enabled.)
  2. Download the file RFTP-COM-help.zip from the Attachmate Download Library.
  3. Unzip the files to a desired folder.

Note: The Rftpcom.hlp, Rftpcom.cnt and Roboex32.dll files must be unzipped to the same folder to enable help navigation features in the left pane.

  1. Double-click the Rftpcom.hlp file to open it.

Note: These help files are a subset of the original product documentation and, therefore, contain some links to other help files that will not function.

Additional Information

The object reference name has changed for Reflection FTP Client version 15.0. For more information, see Technical Note 1861.

For information on controlling a Reflection 2011, Reflection 2008, or Reflection 2007 host terminal session using COM, see Technical Note 2271.
