Summary
This technical note provides a list of fixes and features included in the service pack, as well as information about how to obtain and install Reflection X 2008 R1 + SP1.
Note: This document references a Reflection service pack. Service packs are available to licensed Attachmate customers with current maintenance plans for these products. For information about logins and accessing the Download Library, see Technical Note 0200.
This note is organized into the following sections:
What's Fixed in R1 SP1?
Reflection X 2008 R1 SP1 provides the following improvements and changes:
- Online help is now available in Japanese.
- European font collections are now supplied.
The Reflection X 2008 installer user interface now provides an option to install European (Northern, Southern, Eastern and Western European, Baltic Rim, and Cyrillic) fonts.
- When installing Reflection X on Windows computers, on the Feature Selection tab, select whether to install European fonts.
- When installing Reflection X on UNIX computers, on the Choose Install Set screen, select whether to install European fonts.
If selected, the European font collections are installed to the fonts folder (for example, C:\Program Files\Attachmate\ReflectionX2008\fonts or /opt/Attachmate/ReflectionX2008/fonts).
When installed, European fonts require 24MB hard disk space.
- Reflection X 2008 R1 SP1 now installs Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 1.6.0_3, which requires 89MB hard disk space.
Obtaining the Service Pack
Reflection X 2008 R1 + SP1 is available from the Attachmate Download Library.
Customers with a Volume Purchase Account and current maintenance plan for Reflection X or Reflection Suite for X are entitled to Reflection X 2008 R1 + SP1, which includes next-generation X server capabilities and Service Pack 1.
To download Reflection X 2008, go to http://download.attachmate.com/Upgrades (login required). In your Reflection X or Reflection Suite for X download file listing, Reflection X 2008 R1 + SP1 is listed under Supplemental Feature Release.

Installing Reflection X 2008 R1 + SP1
When launched, the Reflection X 2008 R1 + SP1 package file will detect whether or not Reflection X 2008 R1 is already installed. If Reflection X 2008 R1 is detected, SP1 will be installed. If Reflection X 2008 R1 is not detected, both R1 and SP1 will be installed.
To install Reflection X 2008 R1 + SP1, follow these steps:
- If Reflection X 2008 is already installed, stop the Reflection X 2008 Service.
- Install the Reflection X 2008 R1 + SP1 package file.

- On non-Windows platforms, start the Reflection X 2008 Service.
Note the following:
- On Windows, if Reflection X 2008 was already installed and you do not stop the service, you may need to reboot the machine after installing Reflection X 2008 R1 + SP1.
- The Reflection X 2008 R1 + SP1 package file will upgrade evaluation copies of Reflection X 2008 to the licensed version of Reflection X 2008 R1 SP1.
