Summary

Some product documentation runs in your default browser and uses JavaScript to support active content. If your browser settings do not support scripting, you may see a security warning or have trouble navigating or searching the documentation. This technical note describes the symptoms and solution.

Symptoms

If your browser settings do not support scripting, you may encounter one or more of the following problems:

  • A security warning displays when you launch the documentation.
  • The table of contents books do not open when you click the plus sign (+).
  • Search edit field does not display on the Search tab.
  • Clicking "Show Contents / Index / Search" has no effect.
  • "Getting There" links do not work.

Solution

Enable JavaScript in your web browser. The steps vary depending on your default web browser.

Mozilla Firefox

To enable active content in Mozilla Firefox:

  1. From the Tools menu in Firefox, select Options.
  2. Click the Content icon.
  3. Select the Enable Java check box and then click OK.

Microsoft Internet Explorer

To enable active content in Internet Explorer:

  1. From the Tools menu in Internet Explorer, select Internet Options.
  2. Click the Security tab and select the Internet icon.
  3. Click Custom Level. The Security Settings dialog opens.
  4. Under Scripting > Active Scripting, select Enable.
  5. Click OK in the Security Settings and Internet Options dialogs to save your changes.

Alternative Solution

If you cannot enable JavaScript in your browser (due to Group Policy or other reasons), you may be able to access the documentation in PDF format at http://support.attachmate.com/manuals/.
