This technical note explains how to install the EXTRA! X-treme 9.x Custom Installation Wizard (CIW).

Installing Custom Installation Wizard
By default, the Custom Installation Wizard is not installed during the EXTRA! X-treme installation. CIW can be installed during the EXTRA! X-treme 9.0 installation, by using the Administrator's Edition access code, or after installation by copying the CIW files from the installation media.
Installing CIW While Installing EXTRA! X-treme 9.0
To install CIW while installing EXTRA! X-treme 9.0, follow these steps to enter the Administrator's Edition access code during the product installation. Note: This method does not apply to version 9.1, which no longer supports access codes (instead, go to Installing CIW After EXTRA! X-treme is Installed).
Determine the Access Code
Your installation access code is displayed on the file download page or from the following link (login required):
http://www.attachmate.com/ts-restricted/XtremeAccessCodes.aspx
Note: Only customer designated support contacts with current maintenance plan can access the installation access codes, or the product download at http://download.attachmate.com/upgrades/. For more information about logging into and using the Attachmate Download Library web site, see Technical Note 0200.
Install CIW
Once you have the Administrator's Edition access code, follow these steps to install EXTRA! X-treme and the Custom Installation Wizard.
- On your administrator workstation, run the Setup program for EXTRA! X-treme 9.0.
- Select the Language in which you would like the installation to be performed.
- Enter the access code for the Administrator’s Edition.
- Follow the prompts to complete the EXTRA! installation to your workstation.
At this point, EXTRA! X-treme 9.0 and the administrative tools, including the Custom Installation Wizard, are installed to your administrative machine.
Installing CIW After EXTRA! X-treme is Installed
If you have already installed EXTRA! X-treme, and want to install the Custom Installation Wizard, follow these steps.
- Locate the Tools folder in your product image. After running the downloaded product to extract files, the default folder is as follows:
- Version 9.1: C:\~Attachmate\EXTRA!-v9.1.0\Tools
- Version 9.0: C:\attachmate_temp\extra-9.0-release\Tools
- Version 9.0: C:\attachmate_temp\extra-9.0-release\Tools
This folder contains the following files:
- CustomInstallationWizard.exe
- CustomInstallationWizard.hlp
- CustomInstallationWizard.hlp
- Copy the two extracted files to your EXTRA! X-treme installation folder (by default, C:\Program Files\Attachmate\EXTRA!) on your administrator workstation.
- Double-click CustomInstallationWizard.exe to start CIW.
Running the Custom Installation Wizard

Note: This PDF document references version 8.0; however, the information referenced here is still valid for version 9.0 or higher.
