Summary
Effective with the release of EXTRA! X-treme 9.0, the Microsoft SOAP Toolkit version 3.0 (used to consume remote Web Services) is available for download from Microsoft and Attachmate. Attachmate no longer provides the SOAP Toolkit with the EXTRA! emulation product.
Microsoft SOAP Toolkit Support
The Microsoft SOAP Toolkit provides basic Web services capabilities for COM components and applications. The Toolkit is now deprecated by the .NET Framework. Note the following:
- Microsoft generally recommends not using the SOAP Toolkit on Microsoft Windows 2003. There is limited support for this scenario when migrating existing applications on previous versions of Windows to Windows 2003.
- Microsoft also recommends that no new development be done with the SOAP Toolkit and that existing applications built on the SOAP Toolkit should be migrated to a .NET-based solution as quickly as possible. Obtaining the Files from Attachmate
Since the EXTRA! X-treme software can still use this Toolkit to provide basic Web Services, and since it is unknown how long Microsoft will make the SOAP Toolkit available for download from their web site, the Microsoft SOAP Toolkit is also available from the Attachmate Download Library at soapsdk.exe.
