F-Secure SSH Server for UNIX version 5.x
Summary

This technical note describes two methods for expanding UNIX files that are packaged with a .zip extension: using UnZip (by Info-Zip) on a UNIX machine, or using a Windows unzip utility on a Microsoft Windows machine and then transferring the binary files to the UNIX system.

Note: Reflection for the Web .zip files can alternatively be expanded with a Java jar command. See also Technical Note 1699 or the product Installation Guide at http://support.attachmate.com/manuals/wthdocs.html.

Using the UnZip Utility

Use the UnZip utility (by Info-Zip) to expand a .zip UNIX package on a UNIX machine, as follows:

  1. Obtain the UnZip binaries for your host platform from the Info-Zip web site at http://www.info-zip.org/.

Note: Precompiled versions of the UnZip binaries (unzip.tar) are located on the product CDs for Reflection for Secure IT version 6.0 only and for F-Secure SSH in the following directories. Beginning in Reflection for Secure IT version 6.1, the unzip utility is not included on the product CD.

Reflection for Secure IT 6.0 only: /<platform>
F-Secure SSH 5.x: /<platform>/utils
  1. Extract the files from the .zip package to a directory on your UNIX system.

Using a Windows Unzip Utility

Another option for expanding a .zip UNIX package is to use a Windows unzip utility, such as WinZip or Stuffit, to unzip the UNIX files on a Windows machine; then you can use FTP or NFS to move the binary files to the UNIX host.

  1. Obtain a Windows unzip utility: either WinZip from http://www.winzip.com/ or Stuffit from http://www.stuffit.com/win/index.html.
  2. Extract the files from the .zip package to a folder on your Windows system.
  3. Use FTP (binary transfer type) or NFS to move the unzipped files to your UNIX system.
