This technical note lists browsers that are supported for use with Reflection for the Web. Check this note periodically for updated information.

Information in this document is organized into the following sections:

Browsers and Java Virtual Machines

A Web browser displays web pages, while a Java Virtual Machine (VM) runs a Reflection applet on a web page. Use information in the appropriate section below to determine whether your browser and Virtual Machine can run Reflection for the Web.

Reflection for the Web 2008

Reflection for the Web 2008 requires Java 2 VM 1.4 or higher. Java 1.1 with the Microsoft VM is also supported. Reflection should be fully functional on any browser that meets these specifications. The browsers shown in the following table are fully tested and supported.

* Reflection is fully tested and supported on Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, and Windows 2000.

Reflection for the Web 9.5 - 9.6

Reflection for the Web 9.5 - 9.6 terminal sessions for end users are designed to run in any Java 2-compliant web browser that can run trusted applets; the Administrative WebStation is designed to run in any Java 2-compliant web browser that can run trusted applets and supports JavaScript. Java 1.1 with the Microsoft VM is also supported.

Note: Java 2 VM 1.4.2 + is required for the following features.

  • Drag and drop support
  • Scroll wheel mapping
  • i-series Kerberos support
  • Printing and keyboard mapping behavior is different between Java 2 VM Java 1.x

Reflection should be fully functional on any browser that meets the above specifications, except as noted. The browsers shown in the following table are fully tested and supported.

Reflection for the Web 9.0

Reflection for the Web 9.0 terminal sessions for end users are designed to run in any Java 1.1- or Java 2-compliant web browser that can run trusted applets; the Administrative WebStation is designed to run in any Java 1.1- or Java 2-compliant web browser that can run trusted applets and supports JavaScript.

Note: Java 2 VM 1.4.2 + is required for the following features introduced in Reflection 9.0.

  • Drag and drop support
