Summary
Projects built with Verastream Web Builder version 5.5 are designed for use with Microsoft Visual Studio 2003 and Microsoft .NET Framework version 1.1. This technical note describes the symptoms you may experience with Visual Studio 2005 and .NET Framework version 2.0, and explains how you can migrate your project for use with these newer technologies.
Symptoms
After successfully building your project in Web Builder, you may encounter one of the following problem symptoms with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005:
- You cannot launch Visual Studio 2005 by opening the generated .sln solution file in Windows Explorer.
- When opening the .sln file within Visual Studio 2005, the Visual Studio Conversion Wizard appears.
Solution
To resolve this issue, upgrade to Verastream Host Integrator version 6.0. For more information on upgrading, see Technical Note 40031.
If you are unable to upgrade to version 6.0, use the following steps to convert the version 5.5 project for use with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 and .NET Framework version 2.0:
- Run Visual Studio from the Start menu shortcut.
- Click File > Open > Project/Solution.
- Open your built solution file, typically at the following path:
C:\Program Files\VHI\projects\<projectname>\solution\<projectname>.sln- Complete the Visual Studio Conversion Wizard.
- Use Visual Studio (Build menu) to re-build and publish your project as needed.
Important Note: If you re-build the project with Web Builder, you must subsequently repeat the conversion process and will lose any project changes made in the Visual Studio development environment. If the Verastream model file changes significantly (such as procedure input or output parameters), consider manually editing the project in Visual Studio instead of re-building with Web Builder.
