Model Deployment Error: "Cannot establish management session" or "Socket connection refused"

Environment

Verastream Host Integrator

Situation

This problem is identified by one of the following symptoms:

  • When deploying a model with the activatemodel or deactivatemodel command on Windows or UNIX, the following output is displayed:
Error: Cannot establish management session with VHI server '<server name>'
Server services not running.
  • When deploying a model from Design Tool version 6.0 or higher, the following error is displayed:
[VHI 3851] The current model could not be deployed to the Verastream Host Integrator server "<servername>".
[VHI 2860] Socket Error – Socket connection refused.
  • When deploying a model from Design Tool version 5.5, the following error is displayed:
The current model could not be activated on the local Verastream Host Integrator Server.
Socket error – Socket connection refused.

Resolution

Troubleshoot this problem by referring to the appropriate technical note described below:

  • Verify that the Verastream Session Server is running. To determine how to check the Session Server status, see KB 7021540.
  • If the Session Server is not running, start this service (see KB 7021352).
  • If you are attempting to deploy a model to a different server version, see KB 7021329.
