Importing a Modified Siebel Integration Object into Verastream Process Integrator
Technical Note 10042
Last Reviewed 20-Jan-2005
Applies To
Verastream Integration Broker version 9.7
Summary

This technical note describes how to import a new or modified Siebel Integration Object (IO) into an existing Process Integrator IO application.

Context for Importing a Siebel Integration Object

Use the steps in this technical note if:

  • you created or modified an IO field and you want to include that field in an existing Siebel IO module (in a Process Integrator application).
  • you are using Verastream Integration Broker version 9.7.

In earlier versions of Verastream it was necessary to regenerate the application when new fields were added to a Siebel IO module.

Starting with Verastream Integration Broker version 9.7, new IO fields can be added to an existing Verastream Process Integrator application without regenerating the application. This is made possible by a new option in the Siebel Integration Object (IO) Wizard.

Note: This improvement applies to Siebel IOs only. No such benefit is provided for Siebel VBCs (Virtual Business Components) due to differences in module structure.

Importing a Siebel Integration Object

Use the following steps (with both inbound and outbound applications) to update your module and existing application with new Siebel fields:

  1. Open Verastream Process Integrator. Do not open your existing application.
  2. Click Tools > Siebel Integration Object (IO) Wizard.
  3. On the Integration Object tab, select a repository and the IO that is to be updated.
  4. Click Next to go to the Element Keys tab. Make sure to select the same element keys that appear in the original IO.
  5. Go to the Naming tab.

Clear the Generate application check box, to make this procedure valid for both Siebel outbound and inbound applications.

Verify that:

    • the "Place the field objects with module" box is checked.
    • the Module name is identical to the original Module name.
    • the Module path is set to the same location as the original Module.
    • the other settings are the same as those used in the original Module.

Note: If your existing application has field definitions that match the name, type, and size of the fields in the new Siebel IO module, you do not need to modify the existing fields in your application. However, if the new Siebel IO module contains fields with the same name but a different type or size, you must remove the old field definition from your application.

  1. On the Finish tab, click Finish. This exits the Siebel Integration Object (IO) wizard.
  2. Exit Process Integrator.
  3. Restart Verastream Process Integrator and open your existing application.
  4. Modify your business logic to use the new fields or remove the old fields.
