*The SP notation indicates a supported minimum service pack level for the Microsoft Windows operating system.
Host Integrator uses multiple processors (symmetric multi-processing, or SMP) when available. Intel processors that incorporate Hyper-Threading technology can be used with operating systems (such as Microsoft Windows XP and Microsoft Windows 2003 Server) that provide support for it.
Host Integrator 6.5 supports 64-bit operating system environments, such as Intel x86-64 processor architecture (x64), running as a 32-bit application. Chipsets not listed above, such as Intel Itanium IA64, are not supported.
For running Host Integrator version 6.5 server components in virtual machine environment, Attachmate tests and supports VMware (http://www.vmware.com). Other virtualized environments are supported on a "best effort" basis.
Minimum memory, processor speed, and disk space requirements are described in the Installation Guide (available at http://support.attachmate.com/manuals/vhi.html). For best performance, your physical memory should exceed minimum requirements (recommended minimum 1 GB of RAM, and an additional 128 MB of RAM for each 100 concurrent sessions).
The following platforms are supported by the Design Tool and Web Builder.

To develop a client application (or modify an application generated with Web Builder), you need an appropriate development environment, in addition to Client Connector Requirements.

If your J2EE applications will be using the Host Integrator JCA Resource Adapter (in environments using Enterprise Information Systems such as IBM WebSphere or BEA WebLogic), see also http://www.attachmate.com/docs/verastream/vhi/6.5/help/api/appconn_jca_requirements.html.
Depending on the connector (AppConn) technology used, the client application you develop has the following runtime requirements.
For your Windows client application to use the VHI .NET Connector, Microsoft .NET Framework must be installed. The following .NET Framework versions are supported by Host Integrator.
VHI Version 6.5: .NET Framework version 2.0
VHI Version 6.0: .NET Framework version 1.1 or 2.0 (see also Technical Note 40034)
VHI Version 5.5: .NET Framework version 1.1 (see also Technical Note 10058)
Install the .NET Connector option during setup of the Development Kit or Windows Server Kit. (The .NET Connector also installs and relies upon the COM Connector.)
For your Windows (ASP, VB, VBScript, or C++) client application to use the VHI COM Connector, the appconncom.dll (version 6.5) or appconn.dll (version 6.0 or earlier), and xerces-c_1_4.dll files must be installed and registered. Choose the AppConn COM Connector option in the Development Kit or Server Kit installation on Windows.
The VHI Java Connector is designed to work on any operating system that supports Java 2 Platform, Standard Edition (J2SE) or Enterprise Edition (J2EE), including 64-bit operating systems. The following Java Runtime Environment (JRE) versions are supported by Host Integrator.
VHI Version 6.0 or 6.5: JRE version 1.4 or above (Development Kit Setup installs JRE version 1.5.0 in the <VHI>\jre\bin directory)
VHI Version 5.5: JRE version 1.3.1 or above (Development Kit Setup installs JRE version 1.4.0 in the <VHI>\jre\bin directory; on Solaris and Linux platforms, this also relies upon the glibc version 2.1.3 shared libraries)
For more information on the JRE, see http://java.sun.com.
The Java connector .jar files (apptrieve.jar, vhiprop.jar, wcp.jar) are installed with either Development Kit or Server Kit (to the <VHI>/lib/java directory) and must be added to your CLASSPATH.
On Windows, the VHI C Connector is included in installation of the VHI COM Connector. The appconn.dll and xerces-c_1_4.dll files are installed in your Windows System32 directory.
On UNIX, the directory containing libappconn and libxerces-c1_4 files must be added to your LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable (on Linux or Solaris) or LIBPATH environment variable (on AIX). The Server Kit installs these files to the <VHI>/lib directory.
