Symptoms
Microsoft Office 2003 re-associates KEA! X Sessions Files (.XSF) as Microsoft Office InfoPath Form Definition Files. After Microsoft Office 2003 is installed on a machine running KEA! X 6.0, the XSF file extension used by Application Manager is re-associated to Microsoft Office InfoPath 2003.The icon picture for XSF file is also changed to the Microsoft InfoPath 2003 icon. When attempting to open an Application Manager session file, by double clicking on it, the operating system tries to open the file in InfoPath 2003 and displays the following error:
InfoPath cannot create a new, blank form.
InfoPath cannot open the form. To fix this problem, contact your system administrator. The list of registered file types on the File Types tab in Folder Options lists the XSF extension as Microsoft Office InfoPath Form Definition File.Fix
Workaround: To change the association of the .XSF extension back to the KEA! Application Manager, reinstall KEA! X 6.0 after Microsoft Office 2003, or follow these steps:
1. Open Windows Explorer by clicking Start --> Programs --> Accessories --> Windows Explorer.
2. In Windows Explorer click Folder Options on the Tools menu.
3. In the Folder Options window click the File Types tab.
4. In the list of "Registered file types" scroll to the XSF extension.
5. Select the XSF extension and then click the Change button.
6. In the Open With window select KEA! X Application Manage in the list of programs. If it is not listed click the "Browse" button then browse to and select: C:\Program Files\Attachmate\KEA! X\XAppMgr.exe
7. Click "Open" to select this choice, make sure the "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" check box is checked, and "OK" on the Open With window.
8. On the File Types Tab in the Folder Options window the "Registered file types" list should show XSF associated with Application Manager. Click close.
After changing the association back the icon picture for InfoPath 2003 will remain.
