Symptoms

Unable to type a network path requiring backslash ( \ ) character during a remote control session

Extended characters are not accessible if the Client and Server computers use different keyboard locales

Cannot get backslash from non-US keyboard during a remote control session


Cause

Client and Server computers are not set to the same keyboard locale and the client computer uses a keyboard where AltGr key is needed to reach extended characters such as backslash ( \ )  

Fix

Workaround: type "file://servername" instead of "\\servername" from an explorer address bar.
